Biofuels Technology

CIGI’s Biofuels Technology area offers training and technical support in biofuel production and product utilization. Thanks to the generous support of the Manitoba Rural Adaptation Council, a portable pilot plant has been constructed that is being used for training in the manufacture of biodiesel from canola and other oil sources. Between courses, the unit is housed at the Richardson Centre for Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals in Smartpark at the University of Manitoba and is available to researchers studying the biofuel production process and by-product utilization.
